Book Travelling Thursdays are a weekly meme hosted by Catia and Danielle. Check out the Goodreads group over here.

This week I have to choose a book which has my favourite conclusion.

Now, I feel these topics aren’t really fair, I could choose Harry Potter for every single one!

Anyway, I have choosen my next favourite ending- Percy Jackson! The Last Olympian is one of the best series conclusions I’ve read so far.

The Original Cover

The Last Olympian (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, #5)

The Last Olympian (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, #5)

I don’t think this is specifically published in India, but this is the version I’ve seen around the most.

My Favourite Cover

The Last Olympian (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, #5)

I really like the original cover but I love this version the best!

My Least Favourite Cover

Slumps Are For Chumps #2

Cat at The Book Finch is hosting an amazing month long meme called Slumps Are For Chumps.

Today’s Prompt : I am going to a deserted island for 6 months with NO TECHNOLOGY or MAIL and I can only take 5 books with me. This prompt is in honour of National Bookmobile Day.

Who thinks this is really unfair? This girl! Honestly I am just glad I am going away only for 6 months, not for the rest of my life!

After careful scientific analysis and consideration(not really, I don’t like science), I have chosen these 5 amazing books!

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Harry Potter, #7) The Last Olympian (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, #5) Winter (The Lunar Chronicles, #4)                                                   Cracked (Soul Eaters, #1) Lola and the Boy Next Door (Anna and the French Kiss, #2)

1) Any of the Harry Potter books: Harry Potter is my all time favourite series. Harry Potter was the first fantasy novel I read,it got me hooked to the fantasy  genre. It also bought a lot of magic into my life. When you are going to a deserted island, what you need most is magic.

I am not particular which one I will take. Probably Order of The Phoenix or The Deathly Hallows.

2) The Last Olympian by Rick Riordan: This is the last book in the Percy Jackson series and it is so epic! I feel this is the best book in the entire series. It has so much action and so many emotions. It also doesn’t hurt that this is one of my favourites. I am choosing this book because I will NEED Percy’s sass and camp-half blood to get through 6 months on a deserted island.

3) Winter by Marissa Meyer: If you have been following my posts, you should know by now how much I love The Lunar Chronicles. I am taking Winter with me because it is the longest( 829 pages!).

4) Any of the books in The Soul Eater series by Eliza Crewe: Seriously guys, this series is so amazing! There are soul eaters, demons and crusaders! What more do you need on a deserted island?

5) Lola And The Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins: I read this one last week and it is officially my favourite contemporary romance read. Ah!  Cricket Bell *sighs*.

I would need atleast one contemporary read because otherwise I am going to forget how the real world works after 6 months on a deserted island!

So those were the 5 books I would take with me. Which ones will you take? or if you are participating in this meme, leave the link to your post in the comments!

The Book Fangirling Award!

I was nominated for this award by Lizzie@Accio Padfoot. Thank you so much sweetheart!

Go check out her amazing blog over here!.

The Rules:

  • Thank the blogger who nominated you.
  • Answer the questions they set for you.
  • Set some new questions and nominate five more bloggers.

Lizzie’s Questions

1)Have you ever done anything embarrassing while you’ve been fangirling?

Um.. I don’t know if this counts but I was reading The Last Song by Nicholas Sparks, maybe 2 years back. It was such an emotional book( like most Nicholas Sparks books).

My cousin and her family had come over and I was reading on my Aunt’s tab. My dad was taking a video of everyone and it was when I was swooning over the main love interest. Yep, he got that on video. So embarrassing! You can actually see me swoon!

2) Biggest book hangover?

Ha! Easy! Harry Potter!

I first read the books when I was 13 or so. I read all 7 in one go and it was amazing!

I remember imagining myself as part of the trio and dreaming of my Hogwarts letter. I was in dreamland for such a long time!

3) When was the last time you fangirled and why?

The last time I fangirled was when I read The Lunar Chronicles. it was because…. you have to read the series to understand!

ps. If you read Cinder and didn’t like it much, continue with the series! It gets more amazing with each book!

4) Do you read or write fanfiction?

5) Who are you fangirling most over at the moment?

This guy!

Let me tell you something- I am in love with Captain Carswell Thorne ( The Lunar Chronicles). Like if he was real, I would marry him!

The above picture is perfect but in my head he is more like this-

He is so much like Eugene!

My Questions

1) A book you have read years before but you still fangirl aboout.

2) Is there any character or book everyone loves over but you?

3) Do you read or write fanfiction? ( Lizzie’s question)

4) A book you loved but feel it should be more popular.

5) A character you wish you could marry.

Reviews: Flipped( The Cutest Story Ever)

Author: Wendelin Van Draanen

Published :October 1st 2001

Publisher: Knopf

Flipped is a romance told in two voices. The first time Juli Baker saw Bryce Loski, she flipped. The first time Bryce saw Juli, he ran. That’s pretty much the pattern for these two neighbors until the eighth grade, when, just as Juli is realizing Bryce isn’t as wonderful as she thought, Bryce is starting to see that Juli is pretty amazing. How these two teens manage to see beyond the surface of things and come together makes for a comic and poignant romance.

4 star

My Rating: 4/5

Note: I read this way back in January.

“Some of us get dipped in flat, some in satin, some in gloss….” He turned to me. “But every once in a while, you find someone who’s iridescent, and when you do, nothing will ever compare.”

Aww…. Flipped is the cutest story I’ve read so far. This was my first read for 2016 and it was so good! It was a slightly different read for me a I mostly read YA, where the characters are mostly 15- 16 years and here the main characters were 8th graders.

I first show Flipped somewhere on my Goodreads recommendations. The synopsis did not pique my interest so I left it at that. One day I did not go to school as I was sick. So I obviously watched T.v all day. Flipped(the movie) was running and I loved it so much! The storyline sounded really familiar so I googled it and Lo! It is a book! And the rest is history.

You know that feeling when you drink hot coffee on a rainy day and you feel so happy and content? That’s how I felt after reading Flipped. I mean, its not perfect. Not by the long shot. But it made me feel warm and fuzzy and so happy! I think that’s what matters.

“…and I realized that Garrett was right about one thing- I had flipped.

I loved how the story was narrated, with POV of both the characters for each scene. It was nice, getting a glimpse of what they were thinking and I feel the author did the job quite well.

So the story is about Julie Baker and Bryce Loski, their various interactions over the years and how their opinion of each other changes. It was fun reading the parts where Julie realises Bryce is not so perfect as she thinks and the par where Bryce realises Julie is not that annoying.

“It’s easy to look back and see it, and it’s easy to give the advice. But the sad fact is, most people don’t look beneath the surface until it’s too late.”

There was a wide array of side characters that was really well developed and had their own unique personality.

The only thing I didn’t like was the ending which I thought was better done by the movie. I just wanted more closure.

Would I recommend it?

Yes! This is the kind of a short lazy summer read I feel you should definitely try.

Have you read Flipped? What do you think of it?( or just link your review in the comments)

or do you plan on reading Flipped?

The Harry Potter Tag!

You must know by now that I LOVE tags! Harry Potter is one of my all time favourite books. It got me to read more, especially fantasy. So I’ve always wished there was a tag for Harry Potter.

And fortunately Trang and Lashaan made this amazing Harry Potter tag! You can check out the post over here. When I learned about this tag I was so happy and excited!

So here we go!

Unearthly by Cynthia Hand

Unearthly (Unearthly, #1)

I loved the theme of the book but I felt it focused too much on romance.

Find my review of Unearthly here.

Percy Jackson And The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan

The Lightning Thief (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, #1)

I first heard about Percy Jackson when I was 12 and the guys in my class were obsessed about it.I brushed it off  and thought what do they know? Last year, for some reason I picked the series up and Stars! It was amazing!

Umm.. How about all the books? All of them!

Rogue by Karen Lynch

Rogue (Relentless #3)

I am going to choose a book that broke my heart. I loved the first two books in the Relentless series. There were some things that bothered be but I loved them nonetheless. I was so excited for the Rogue and…. it was so horrible!

It just killed me, I was expecting so much more!

The Selection by Keira Cass

The Selection (The Selection, #1)

I read The Selection about 3 years back, when I was 14.  There was zero world building which was very confusing. I remember eating up every word because it was very difficult for me to imagine how The Selection society worked. The book also tries to be a dystopian and a fluffy romance which gives us a confused book and a very confused reader.

Soul Eaters by Eliza Crewe

Cracked (Soul Eaters, #1)

Oh My God guys! This book is so amazing! If you haven’t read it, GO READ IT NOW!

I just want to hang out with Meda and Jo and kill some demons. Period.

I Am Nujood, 10 and divorced by Nujood Ali

I Am Nujood, Age 10 and Divorced

This is the most dark, horrifying book I have read so far. It is the kind of book that makes you weep for humanity. The book that will haunt your nightmares. I was left horrified and disgusted.

The Time Traveller’s Wife by Audrey Niffenegger

The Time Traveller's Wife I expected an ordinary time travel book. But The Time Traveler’s Wife turned out to be so much more! This is a book that touched my heart and is one of my favourites!

I tag these amazing booknerds!

and Angela

Ps. Please don’t feel obliged to do this tag on my acoount!
